高天雖高,牠還要高;
不分境地、不理晚早;

沒有同心、沒有同伴;
惟祂自己和神知道;

I have a Friend, whose faithful love

Mode: MP3/MIDI

1.I have a Friend, whose faithful love
Is more than all the world to me:
'Tis higher than the heights above,
And deeper than the soundless sea;
    So old, so new,
    So strong, so true;
Before the earth received its frame,
He loved me—Blessed be His name!
2.He held the highest place above,
Adored by all the sons of flame,
Yet such His self-denying love,
He laid aside His crown and came
    To seek the lost,
    And at the cost
Of heavenly rank and earthly fame
He sought me—Blessed be His name!
3.It was a lonely path He trod,
From every human soul apart;
Known only to Himself and God
Was all the grief that filled His heart,
    Yet from the track
    He turned not back,
Till where I lay in want and shame,
He found me—Blessed be His name!
4.Then dawned at last that day of dread,
When desolate, yet undismayed,
With wearied frame and thorn-crowned head,
He, God-forsaken, man-betrayed,
    Was then made sin
    On Calvary,
And, dying there in grief and shame,
He saved me—Blessed be His name!
5.Long as I live my song shall tell
The wonders of His dying love;
And when at last I go to dwell
With Him His sovereign grace to prove,
    My joy shall be
    His face to see,
And bowing there with loud acclaim
I'll praise Him—Blessed be His name!

Thank you for your response.

To answer your question, we think that C.A. Tydeman is the author of an hymn entitled "I Have A Friend". John Morrical did a little research and I am coninuing. Our resarch is for a CD/book combination that includes IHAF, as performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and a chapter that (hopefully will) include informaion on the author of this hymn.

I have been in touch with a man by the name of William Tydeman who thinks that perhaps his great great uncle: Ebenezer Alfred Tydeman (1842-1917),is who we are looking for and that there has been an error in the transcription of his first initial. This man is known to have written hymns, however until I am able to track down an early 1900's English hymnal(I'm in the U.S.) and see what the initials are, I will continue researching both men.

I am most appreciative of your help. Do you have any information on E.A.T.?

Also why do you say "I don't understand how this would happen" regarding the info you sent me on C.A.T. (see below)

........There is also a World War I service record in the National Archives showing that he was a corporal in the Middlesex, Royal Fusiliers & Royal Engineers regiments. ( I don't understand how this would happen)

Thank you again for any help you might be able to render.

Mrs. Lesley Petrone
